The Katwe Immunisation and Blood Donation Drive was a community health initiative held in Katwe, Kampala, aimed at increasing child immunisation coverage and boosting Uganda’s blood supply through voluntary donations.
Conducted in partnership with Mengo Hospital Blood Bank and supported by the Rotaract Clubs of Kigo 7 Lakes Golf, Upper Kololo, and Victoria University, the project provided free immunisation services to 102 children, protecting them against life-threatening diseases such as polio and measles. Additionally, 50 units of safe blood were collected, which can potentially save up to 150 lives, supporting patients in need of transfusions, including mothers, accident victims, and surgical cases.
The project also included health sensitisation sessions focused on disease prevention and hygiene, benefiting both participants and the wider Katwe community. Overall, the initiative directly impacted over 150 individuals and served as a meaningful step toward strengthening
